Mapping an End to Hunger in Greater Des Moines
This document provides a summary of Mapping an End to Hunger in Greater Des Moines. The work plan update highlights primary objectives of the project and research associated with the project. Nutrition education and outreach, SNAP outreach and enrollment, the Greater Des Moines Food Research and Action Council, and project partners are also addressed. This resource provides a framework for a community to address hunger in an all encompassing manner. The goal of the project is to create a vision of a system that will serve the nutrition and health needs of all citizens and to coordinate the development of a local food policy council.
This is useful document for those interested in moving beyond the historic concept of providing hunger relief towards a system-wide community-based model that is targeted to end hunger and improve community health.
